The Reform Party and its coalition partners have run into such a deadlock with their policies that they have no other justification for their unsuccessful actions than to blame the Center Party for all the troubles. However, the facts speak a different language.
For example, Toomas Uibo, the leader of the Estonian 200 parliamentary faction, recently made a surprising statement in which he found that the current introduction of new taxes is due to the actions of governments led by the Center Party. This was seconded by Priit Lomp, the leader of the Social Democratic Party faction, who emphasized that there are things about the car tax that are very difficult for socialists to swallow – yet the draft was voted for. The chairman of the Center Party’s appeal to the Chancellor of Justice regarding the unfair car tax would understandably cause discomfort in coalition politicians, because they themselves are embarrassed by what happened. However, regarding the country’s poor economic situation, we must look to the politicians of the Reform Party, and not put the blame on the Center Party.
