Laurent Wauquiez, president of the Republican Right group in the National Assembly, announced Tuesday, November 26, that his group and Les Républicains senators had agreed to waive a contribution to make all active workers work without pay for seven more hours per year, a measure included in the Social Security budget by the Senate.

“This morning with Mathieu Darnaud [président du groupe Les Républicains (LR) au Sénat], we pleaded with Matignon, with the support of Michel Barnier, to ask for additional savings on the state budget: more savings on the waste of public money, less effort required of French and less taxes »further detailed the deputy for Haute-Loire.

A measure which was supposed to bring in 2.5 billion euros

During the examination of the Social Security financing bill, the Senate approved this measure supposed to bring 2.5 billion euros to the State, which would be added to the “day of solidarity” already practiced and directed towards old age and disability.

The government said it was unfavorable “at this stage” offering “rework” with the social partners, a position he repeated on Tuesday during Questions to the Government in the National Assembly. In return for this measure, employers would have seen their solidarity contribution rate for autonomy increase from 0.3% to 0.6%. But the measure is strongly opposed by the left and has raised eyebrows over the form, including within the government camp.
