The Minister of Communication and Media, Laurence Ndong, successfully participated in the Global Innovation Forum which was held in Malta from October 28 to 30, 2024. This high-level event brought together leaders from the digital sector and government representatives from around the world to discuss issues and opportunities related to innovation.
During her speech, Ms. NDONG stressed that Gabon, recognized for its political sensitivity, offers a favorable framework for foreign investors, particularly in the booming digital sector. She also highlighted Gabon’s positive results in digital coverage, Internet access and mobile telephony, demonstrating the Gabonese government’s commitment to a dynamic and inclusive digital economy.
This meeting was also an opportunity to discuss the establishment of the Gabonese Innovation Center, a strategic initiative aimed at meeting the needs in terms of digital transformation, development of local capacities and innovation. The center aims to reduce the digital divide by promoting digital acculturation and creating an environment conducive to technological innovation.
Finally, Ms. NDONG called on governments around the world to adopt a holistic approach to address current challenges, by investing in infrastructure, reforming education, supporting innovation and fostering international cooperation.
