Launching the Lebanon International Film Festival in Tripoli

The “Tiro Association of Arts” and “Istanbuli Theater” announced the program of the second session of the “Lebanon International Film Festival for Short Films”, which will be held from April 28 to 30 at the “Free Lebanese National Theater” in Tripoli, under the slogan “Cinema for All”. And a tribute to the late directors, George Nasr and Randa Al-Shahal.

The step comes within the activities of “Tripoli, Capital of Arab Culture”, with the participation of films ranging from fiction, documentary and animation from 32 films from 18 countries, namely Syria, the Sultanate of Oman, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, France, Morocco, Algeria, Bahrain, Iraq, Egypt, Armenia, Jordan, Yemen, Sudan, Iran, Italy, the United Kingdom, Belgium, the Czech Republic, and in cooperation with the Dutch Don Foundation.

The festival supports local cinema, cultural exchange, and holds training workshops, seminars, and discussions with directors.

This cinematic event allocates a large space for showing films of student projects. The festival, which was launched in 2016, is the mobile cinematic event that takes place in several Lebanese cities, from Tire to Nabatiyeh, Tripoli, Beirut and Khiam. Participating films compete within the festival’s official competition for the prizes for best feature film and best film. Documentary, Best Animation, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Cinematography, and Jury Prize.

Actor and director Kassem Istanbouli, founder of the Lebanese National Theatre, affirmed that “the continuation of festivals, film screenings and free training workshops constitutes an important opportunity for convergence and an opportunity for the audience to learn regarding different cultures from the world.”
