On January 22, classes will begin for the first 35 students of the degree in General and Community Medicine, at the State University of Sonora (UES).
“This program was born at the UES from the need to meet a demand for community doctors in urban and rural areas of the state and there is a commitment that students have community interventions during their professional training and participate in research projects,” said the rector Armando Moreno Soto.
The UES received 228 applications from applicants for this educational program and following presenting the general knowledge exam, a preselection of 52 applicants was made, who were interviewed, one by one, to identify the suitable profiles, and finally accept the 35 students. who will make up the first generation of General and Community Medicine at the UES.
Norma Angélica Borbón Castro, General Academic Secretary of the UES, added that the curricular evaluations have already been carried out and there are doctors in different specialties who will be the teachers in the different subjects of the educational program that lasts 14 semesters, including the social service.
The UES General and Community Medicine program will begin with a group at the Hermosillo Academic Unit, and it is planned to expand the spaces and educational offering to the other units of the UES in the coming years.
