Launch of the green belt cleaning operation in Guelmim

The clean-up operation of the green belt in Guelmim was launched recently, within the framework of the execution of the “Awrach” program, in particular in its component relating to the protection of the environment.

This initiative led by the Association “Taouaghil” for development, is part of the implementation of the partnership agreements concluded between the provincial council of Guelmim and the cooperatives and associations of the local civil society, selected in the framework of the “Awrach” program which targets people who have lost their jobs and those who have difficulty accessing the labor market.

Thus, several young graduates (men and women), affected by the crisis linked to the Covid-19 pandemic, have started the operation to clean up the city’s green belt so that this ecological space regains its splendor and, by on the same occasion, remind residents and visitors of the importance of preserving this site by adopting behavior that respects the environment.

This initiative also aims to contribute to the preservation of the Green Belt, whose undeniable role on the ecological level is not to be demonstrated, particularly in the fight against the environmental phenomena and problems facing the city of Guelmim as well as the preservation biodiversity and the protection of certain biological species.

In a statement to M24, MAP’s continuous news television channel, the treasurer of the “Taouaghil” Association for Development, Mohamed Lamine Anif, indicated that this initiative to clean up the green belt is part of the framework of the opening on several green spaces of the city (corniche Oum Achar, Taouaghil park, …) in order to allow the inhabitants to admire the splendor and the beauty of these ecological sites, in particular during the weekends and the holidays .

He also noted that this cleaning action extends over three months, like other projects and sites launched in other sectors under the “Awrach” program.

It should be noted that a total of 57 partnership agreements were signed as part of the implementation of the “Awrach” program at the level of the province of Guelmim.

These agreements relate to 38 temporary public worksites, distributed among the various local authorities in the province, and which will generate 1,018 temporary jobs.
