Let’s go for the electoral census in Togo, as part of the next regional and legislative elections. The operation intended to establish an electoral file started on April 29, 2023 and will end on June 3.

In his opening speech, the President of the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI), Dago YABRE explained that this operation marks a decisive turning point in the process of the next elections.

He invited the Togolese men and women, aged 18 and who are not affected by any incapacity provided for by law, to go massively and calmly to the census and voting centers (CRV) in order to register and obtain their new voter cards.

“Dear voters, to be registered in the electoral register and to obtain a voter’s card in order to be authorized to participate in an election is a right and a civic duty”, he indicated.

Division of the territory

In order to carry out the registration of persons fulfilling the required legal conditions, the territory was divided into three (03) electoral census zones.

First the Zone 1 from April 29 to May 6, 2023: It concerns the communes Lakes 1-3, Lakes 2-4, Bas-Mono, Vo 1-3, Vo 2-4, Zio 1-2, Zio 3- 4, Yoto, Avé, Agoe-Nyive 1, Agoe-Nyive 4-6, Agoe-Nyive 2-3-5, Gulf 1 (South-East), Gulf 2 (South-Centre), Gulf 3 (South-West) , Gulf 4 (Amoutivé), Gulf 5 (Afla-Gakli), Gulf 6 (Baguida), Gulf 7 (Aflao-Sagbado).

Then the 2nd zone from 13 to 20 May 2023: Tchamba, Sotouboua, Blitta, Anie, Ogou 1-4, Ogou 2-3, Amou, Haho 1-2, Haho 3-4, East-Mono, Central-Mono, Agou , Kloto, Close, Danny, Wawa, Akébou.

Finally, Zone 3, from May 27 to June 3, 2023: Cinkassé, Tone 1-4, Tone 2-3, Tandjouaré, Kpendjal, Kpendjal-Ouest, Oti, Oti-Sud, Kéran, Binah, Doufelgou, Kozah 1-2, Kozah 3-4, Assoli, Dankpen, Bassar 1, Bassar 2-3-4, Tchaoudjo 1-2, Tchaoudjo 3-4, Mô.

It should be recalled that in accordance with the provisions of Article 40 of the Electoral Code, the electoral census concerns all Togolese of both sexes aged eighteen (18) years old, enjoying their civil and political rights and registered on the electoral lists. and not being in any of the cases of incapacity provided for by law (…).
