The call for applications for small and medium-sized enterprises, non-profit organizations and high schools has just been made by the organizers of the Zayed Prize for Sustainable Development. The deadline has been set for May 2, 2023. This is the first global award given by the UAE and which recognizes organizations and high schools offering sustainable solutions.
Applications must be made on site and must meet one of the following five categories: Health, Food, Energy, Water and High Schools. It honors the legacy of the UAE’s founding father, Sheikh Zayed, in accelerating sustainable development and humanitarian impact around the world. Since 2008, through the visionary leadership of the United Arab Emirates, the award has facilitated the delivery of sustainable solutions to vulnerable communities, improving millions of people’s access to reliable and affordable energy, clean water, food nutrition and quality health care. These efforts directly support the UAE’s broader goals of fostering international collaboration and building a sustainable and prosperous global economy,” said Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technologies and Managing Director Zayed Prize for Sustainable Development.

To date, the Prize has impacted the lives of more than 378 million people around the world, including in Vietnam, Nepal, Sudan, Ethiopia, Maldives and Tuvalu. In terms of reward, the annual prize money has been set at $3 million. It will be decided according to the winners of each category up to 600,000 dollars to develop their project, and up to 100,000 dollars in the High Schools category, which covers six regions of the world. These 6 regions are: Americas, Sub-Saharan Africa, Middle East and North Africa, Europe and Central Asia, South Asia and East Asia and Pacific. Over the past 15 years, the Zayed Prize has recognized 106 winners, including student-led projects, which have had a positive impact on the lives of millions of people around the world. In 2023, the Zayed Prize will celebrate 15 years of humanitarian impact around the world. Thanks to its 96 laureates, the prize has positively influenced the lives of 370 million people in 150 countries.
