TrustAfrica and Urgent Action Fund-Africa, in partnership with the Coalition for Dialogue on Africa – CoDA are officially launching the Pan-African and Feminist Initiative for Philanthropies on June 6, 2023 at the Inter Luxury Hotel in Addis Ababa , Ethiopia.

The Pan-African and Feminist Initiative for Philanthropies was born out of a meeting in Naivasha, Kenya between actors in the philanthropic sector. The exchanges and ideas focused on ways to reinvent the transformation agenda of pan-African and feminist philanthropy.

The program aims to mobilize massive new resources for pan-African and feminist philanthropic work on the continent.

A pan-African and feminist endowment of $25 million is expected at the end of the year. It is also planned $500,000,000 and $1 billion, respectively over the next five and ten years.

The initiative expects to build on contributions from existing and new individuals and institutional funders through the Coalition for Dialogue on Africa (CoDA).

This coalition is established as a joint venture of the African Union Commission (AUC), the African Development Bank (AfDB) and the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA). It is an independent forum for free discussion between state and non-state actors.

TrustAfrica is a pan-African foundation established in 2006. Urgent Action Fund–Africa is a feminist, pan-African rapid response fund committed to transforming power relations by providing resources to African feminists and defenders of women’s rights.
