National meetings began Friday in Burkina Faso to appoint a transitional president, two weeks following a second putsch in eight months which brought to power Captain Ibrahim Traoré, whose supporters want him to be appointed.

More than 200,000 Zimbabweans might be forced out of South Africa as residence permits expire.
