The Senegalese Minister of Economy, Planning and Cooperation, Amadou Hott, and the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium in Senegal, Hubert Roisin, proceeded on Thursday to the signing of the Sahel Climate Thematic Portfolio program which allows the country to benefit an envelope of 11.5 million euros to strengthen the resilience of populations in the Sahel.

“I would like to express our country’s great pleasure in benefiting, along with Mali, Niger and Burkina Faso, from this program which involves a donation of 50 million euros. In this envelope, an amount of 11.5 million euros is allocated to Senegal,” explained Hott during his speech.

“Through the Climate Sahel program, the Kingdom of Belgium supports our efforts to improve the integrated management of natural resources and to restore the natural ecosystems of the Sahel in a sustainable manner as part of the fight once morest desertification and the negative consequences of climate change. “, he chained.

Climate Sahel takes place over the period 2022-2026.

The two personalities also proceeded during the meeting to the signing of the program for the promotion of equitable access to quality medicines and vaccines.

For an amount of 4 million euros, it constitutes, according to Hott, the 4th important pillar of the 2019-2023 bilateral program between Senegal and Belgium.
