Launch in Rabat of the Citizen Participation Support Project

With a period of 3 years and endowed with a budget of almost 7 million euros, this program mainly aims to support the efforts made in Morocco to promote participatory democracy. It will be deployed in five regions of Morocco.

A new program to support citizen participation was officially launched on Tuesday in Rabat, in partnership with the delegate ministry in charge of relations with parliament, the General Directorate of Local Authorities, the Moroccan Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship social and the Belgian development agency “Enabel.

The launch of this program financed by the European Union took place during a ceremony chaired by the Minister Delegate to the Head of Government in charge of Relations with Parliament and Government Spokesperson, Mustapha Baitas, the Wali- Director General of Local Authorities Khalid Safir, European Union Ambassador to Morocco Patricia Pilar Llombac Cussac and Belgian Ambassador to Morocco, Véronique Petit.

This program includes three components, the first of which is dedicated to strengthening the fabric of associations, the second relates to the promotion of the participation of civil society in the development, monitoring and evaluation of local public policies, while the third aims developing the impact and promoting civil society initiatives in Morocco.

On this occasion, Mr. Baitas noted that this program is none other than the fruit of a strategic partnership between Morocco and the European Union, particularly in terms of developing civil society initiatives, strengthening democracy participation and promotion of citizen participation in Morocco.
