Latvian Vocal Group “Framest” Releases New Single and Video, Teasing Upcoming Epic Celebration

“Vien nieciņu pāgādas” by the award-winning Latvian vocal group “Framest” has arrived, marking a crucial milestone for the band. It serves as a thrilling precursor to their fourth studio album, set to be released next year, coinciding with their 20th anniversary celebration, which will see them embarking on a nationwide concert tour across Latvia.

The song was born at a summer creative retreat by the sea, a perfect setting for the reflective lyrics penned by Dagnis Roziņš of the popular Latvian band “Citi zēni.” The music was composed by Roberts Memmēns, who is rejoining “Framest” as producer and mixer for this new project. Marks Rēpelis polished the final master version, while Valdis Krūmiņš brought the story to life visually directing the accompanying video.

“Vien nieciņu pakādas,” translates to “A Little Thing From Goodbyes,” hinting at the poignant themes of farewell and uncertainty. “It’s about the bittersweet farewell to our loved one who’s heading towards an unknown future,” a member of the group explained. The song’s title alludes to a Latvian saying, “that’s a return,” suggesting there is always hope for reunion.

Dagnis Roziņš shared his process saying: “It’s always interesting to create texts for artists I haven’t worked with in this way. It is very important to catch and understand their identity both musically and personally, in order to be able to speak on behalf of these artists. It’s great when many ideas match. At the right time and in the right place, we managed to turn on a feeling that was meaningful to me and aligned with the band’s identity.”

“Framest”, renowned for their groundbreaking vocal harmonies, comprises soprano Beāte Zviedre, viola Rūta Dūduma, tenor Mikus Abaroniņš, baritone Jānis Ķirsis, and bass member Robert Memmēns.

The group gained international recognition through their participation in prestigious competitions like “Jaunais vilnis” (New Wave) and the national selection for Eurovision. Their repertoire spans diverse genres, from classic and jazz to pop, often represented through unique a cappella arrangements. They have collaborated with iconic Latvian musicians such as Raimonds Pauls, Zigmars Liepiņš, and Jānis Lūsēns.

The band has also shared the stage with “New York Voices,” the Grammy-award-winning vocal ensemble, further highlighting their commitment to excellence and innovation. “Framest” has released three successful studio albums -“Svetki ledes pili” (2012), “All That Jazz” (2014), and “Amber Jazz” (2015), each pushing the boundaries of vocal artistry.

“Vien nieciņu pāgādas” is already captivating audiences, making waves on Latvian radio and streaming platforms. This captivating single is a mere Taste of what’s to come.

“Framest,” roaring into their second decade, is set to create a musical story of resilience, joy, and the power of connection.
