The concert performance will include both well-loved and well-known songs that have become an integral part of the celebration: Holiday in the ice castle, Oh, Christmas tree, Winter sleep, Gingerbread, however, there will be an opportunity to hear lesser-known and newer compositions that will surprise you with their fun and sincerity. The story of the songs is created by playwright Ruta Dishler.
After the Christmas tree! director Liena Šmukste, for whom this is already the second work produced at the Latvian Puppet Theatre, says: “Christmas is a time when the family gets together. This is a time of wonder, love, reflection.
An old belief says that if you come to the Latvian puppet theater during Christmas, you can find the most beautiful Christmas tree together, sing your favorite songs, meet wonderful actors and feel a small moment of happiness.”
Artist Māris Ruskulis was entrusted with creating the scenography and characters of the celebration. Composer Raimonds Petrauskis takes care of the musical design, assisted by vocal teacher Annia Putniņa, while Arta Kronberga created the light score. The songs will be sung and actors Rūta Dishler, Baiba Vanaga, Rūdolfs Apse and Rihards Zelezņevs will play the roles.
The Latvian Puppet Theater invites families, friends and those waiting for a Christmas miracle to join in this warm and loving event, which will premiere on December 6, with upcoming performances on December 7, 27, 28, 29 and January 2.
