In previous games, Latvian hockey players beat Austria twice in a penalty shootout at home with a score of 3:2 and lost twice to Finland with a score of 2:3, and lost away to Switzerland with a score of 1:5 and 0:4.
The Norwegians won three victories in six games in April. Away, they shared points with Denmark (1:3, 3:2), but lost twice to Hungary (1:2, 2:3). Then the Danes were defeated on their ice with a score of 4:3 and 2:1 in overtime.
On Saturday at 16.00 the teams will meet once more at Arena Riga.
After the match with Switzerland, the Latvian national team included forwards Miks Indrasis, Raivis Ansons and Swedish champion Martins Dzerkals, German vice-champion goalkeeper Kristers Gudlevskis, as well as defender Karlis Čukste. Forwards Kristaps Skrastins and Tom Andersons, defender Artur Anjans and goalkeeper Ivar Punnenov are no longer in the national team.
It also became known that due to injuries, Swiss Championship finalists Rudolf Balzers and Ronald Kenins will not be able to help the team this spring.
In the Latvian national team, head coach Harijs Vitolins is assisted by coaches Lauris Darzins, Arturs Irbe, Petteri Nummelin, Ville Peltonen, Raimonds Vilkoits, video coach Peteris Grom and physical training specialist Erik Vysocki.
The Latvian national team will go to the World Championships in the Czech Republic on May 9.
The 2024 championship will take place in Prague and Ostrava from May 10 to 26.
