Latin American and Caribbean Leaders Reject Ukrainian President’s Presence at EU Summit

Leaders of 33 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean rejected the presence of the Ukrainian president, Vladimir Zelensky, at the summit with the European Union (EU) that will take place in Brussels, capital of Belgium.

The information was disseminated by the Euractiv portal and cited by Latin Press.

Although Zelensky initially received an invitation from Spain, the possibility was later rejected due to the opposition shown by the leaders of Latin America, the digital media reported.

The summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (Celac) and the EU will meet on the 17th and 18th of this month in this city, where details are already being finalized for the high-level meeting, in which the issue of the conflict in Ukraine.

The leadership of the CELAC countries eliminated everything proposed by the EU for support for Ukraine from the 21-page final document that the community bloc sent to it on the 4th, he stressed Euractive.

Now, in the declaration, all parties would be in favor of serious and constructive diplomatic decisions to end the conflict, the publication added.

On February 24 of last year, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a special military operation to protect the population of Donbass, which denounced an eight-year genocide by Kiev, as well as to demilitarize and denazify Ukraine.
