A DEATH IN RUSSIA
One person was killed in a Ukrainian strike on the Russian region of Belgorod, which borders Ukraine, local governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said. “This morning, the Ukrainian armed forces hit the village of Ourazovo in the Valuysk district with Grad-type missiles,” Gladkov wrote on Telegram. “One person was killed, a man who was in the street at the time of the strike.”

DIPLOMATIC CONFLICT
The expulsion of two Russian diplomats is just “banal revenge”, according to the Russian ambassador to the United States. In a press release published on Telegram, Anatoli Antonov assures that “no argument” was provided to him by the American side on the reasons for this expulsion. “This does not do honor to American diplomacy,” he adds.

CONNECTION BETWEEN MOSCOW AND PYONGYANG
Rail traffic between North Korea and Russia has increased sharply, indicating a “likely” transfer of weapons between the two countries, according to a study by the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), a Washington think tank. The Beyond Parallel cell, created by the CSIS and dedicated to the Korean peninsula, specifies in its study published Friday that seventy freight wagons were identified in the Tumangang border railway station, using high-resolution satellite images .
A number described as “unprecedented”, even compared to pre-Covid traffic. Over the past five years, only twenty wagons have been seen in this marshalling yard, according to the same source. This renewed activity “probably indicates that North Korea is supplying weapons and ammunition to Russia”, concludes the CSIS, which was however unable to identify the contents of the wagons covered by tarpaulins.

DIPLOMATIC CONFLICT
Washington announced the expulsion of two Russian diplomats, in retaliation for the “unfounded” expulsion of two American diplomats by Moscow last month. The United States “will not tolerate the trend of intimidation on the part of the Russian government towards our diplomats,” argued Matthew Miller, a spokesperson for American diplomacy, in a press release. “The State Department’s actions send a clear message that there are consequences for unacceptable actions once morest our diplomatic personnel in Moscow,” he added.

STRIKES ON CIVILIANS
Friday, following a strike on Kharkiv, “the body of a 10-year-old child was found in the rubble,” announced Ukrainian Interior Minister Igor Klymenko, adding that his grandmother had also perished. The regional governor, Oleg Synegoubov, reported at least 28 injured, including an eleven-month-old baby who was a member of the family of the two people killed.

THE COLD WAR IS PREPARING
The Ukrainian president believes that Russia will seek to “destroy” his country’s electricity system this winter, like last year when it increased massive bombings on essential infrastructure. In his daily message posted on social networks, Volodymyr Zelensky said he was “fully aware of the danger”, adding that Ukrainians were preparing for “the protection of production facilities and the supply of electricity and heat, to the restoration of everything damaged by the strikes.
“It is very important to win this winter, to overcome all the difficulties and to ensure the protection of our people,” he insisted.
