Two more people in Kozhikode have symptoms of Nipah. The number of people in the contact list for Nipah in the district has reached 950. Today alone 30 samples have been sent for testing. Most of those sent today are healthcare workers. Collector A Geetha said that inspection may be started at Kozhikode mobile unit from tomorrow.
In order to prevent the spread of the virus, more restrictions have been imposed in Kozhikode district and containment zones. No gatherings or public events of any kind, including in places of worship, are permitted in the containment zones.
There is also a proposal to set up work from home system for government office employees. Public parks and beaches in the area will remain closed until further notice.

As a precautionary measure, all educational institutions (including Anganwadis, Madrasas, Tuition Centers) including professional colleges in Kozhikode district have been declared holiday on September 16. Earlier today and tomorrow (September 14 and 15) were announced as a holiday. University and PSC exams remain unchanged.
Out of 18 samples sent for testing, results of 11 may be received today. At present, three people have been diagnosed with Nipah and are undergoing treatment in the district.
