NEW YORK — Cuban Néstor Cortés Jr. will not return with the New York Yankees until at least August.

The 28-year-old left-hander went on the 60-day disabled list Friday. Disabled due to rotator cuff inflammation, the 2022 All-Star Game selection will be eligible to be activated on August 4.

The last game Cortés pitched was May 30, and he is 5-2 with a 5.16 ERA through 11 starts. He is expected to pitch to hitters on Sunday, and then at the Yankees’ sports complex in Tampa on July 13.

New York activated lefty Carlos Rodón from the 60-day disabled list to open the series once morest the Cubs on Friday. Rodón is scheduled to debut with the Yankees. After signing pr 162 million for six years, Rodón had been disabled since the preseason due to a sprain in his left forearm, and back pain.

New York placed utility player Jake Bauers on the 10-day disabled list with a left rotator cuff contusion, a move retroactive to Thursday. Franchy Cordero was once once more called up from Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, the Triple-A branch.
