Field developments are still accelerating, on Thursday evening, following the mutual shelling between Israel and the Gaza Strip, including clashes that broke out between Palestinians and members of the Israeli army at the Shuafat refugee camp checkpoint, northeast of Jerusalem, which was documented in a video clip.
The video shows a group of Palestinians throwing firecrackers near the checkpoint, while cars pass through a barrage of firecrackers.
This comes in light of the continued shelling between the two sides, as barrages of rockets are still being fired from the Gaza Strip towards Israeli settlements, reaching Tel Aviv, on Thursday evening.
Sirens sounded once more in Tel Aviv, Ashkelon and the settlements around the Gaza Strip.
For its part, the Israeli army announced the bombing of “two operations headquarters, 4 rocket launchers, two military sites, and two sites for firing mortar shells,” belonging to the Islamic Jihad movement in Gaza.
The Sky News Arabia correspondent stated that “new Israeli raids targeted homes and field activists in the north and west of Gaza City.”
Medical sources in Gaza also reported that one person was killed and others were injured when Israeli raids targeted a group of Palestinians in the northern Gaza Strip.
Earlier Thursday, an Israeli was killed following a rocket fired from the Gaza Strip hit a building in the Rehovot settlement near Tel Aviv, according to Israeli media.
Meanwhile, Arab and international parties called for a cease-fire between Israel and the Gaza Strip, following 3 days of air raids and rocket fire between the two sides.
The US State Department said it continues to call on the Palestinians and Israelis to take steps to reduce violence.
In turn, the European Union’s foreign policy chief, Josep Borrell, called for an “immediate truce” to stop the Israeli operations in the Gaza Strip and the firing of rockets at Israel.
On Thursday, the foreign ministers of Germany, France, Egypt and Jordan called for an end to the violence between Israel and the armed factions in Gaza.
“The bloodshed must stop now,” German Foreign Minister Analina Baerbock said following talks with her counterparts in Berlin.
