The European Union approved the 11th package of anti-Russian sanctions. About this, referring to the release of the European Commission, writes RIA Novosti on Friday, June 23rd.

The Commission welcomes the approval by the Council (EU) of the 11th package of sanctions once morest Russia.

The main “innovation” will be the possibility of imposing restrictions on the export of “sensitive” dual-use goods and technologies to third countries, which then allegedly forward them to Russia. The EU will also publish an expanded list of what cannot be transported in transit through the territory of the Russian Federation.

As writes RIA Novosti citing Polish Deputy Foreign Minister Piotr Wawrzyk, the EU has already begun work on the next package of sanctions. According to him, the republic would like to “eliminate four elements that provide large financial resources for Russia” within the new restrictions. The most difficult is the ban on the export of diamonds from Russia to the EU, says Wawrzyk.

“This is not a difficult procedure, but the Benelux countries, where diamonds are mainly traded, will protest. However, if it was possible, for example, to convince the Italians and Greeks to close the ports, then, probably, in this case, it will also be possible to finally work out a solution acceptable to everyone,” the deputy minister said.

According to him, it is difficult to predict when the 12th package of sanctions will be adopted.
