In Gaza, the number of deaths since last Saturday has been revised upwards to 1,900 deaths, according to a new report from the Palestinian Ministry of Health. This figure includes 614 children, adds the ministry. Earlier in the day, the ministry said more than 7,000 people had been injured.
For its part, the Israeli army reports 1,300 people killed in Israel and more than 3,200 injured. The Israeli government also claims that more than 150 Israelis, foreigners or dual nationals are being held hostage by Hamas.
