The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the parties participating in the Astana meeting stressed “the need to create the necessary conditions inside Syria in order to ensure the safe, voluntary and honorable return of the Syrians.”
This came in a statement it published following the joint final statement issued at the end of the 20th edition of the Astana meeting on Syria in the Kazakh capital on Wednesday.
The statement referred to the participation of a Turkish delegation headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Ambassador Burak Akjabar in the meeting.
The statement indicated that the meeting dealt with issues of the field situation, combating terrorism, regional developments, the political process, the return of Syrians, and humanitarian aid.
The participating parties affirmed “their strong commitment to Syria’s political and territorial integrity, and the pioneering role of the Astana process in finding a peaceful solution to the Syrian issue,” according to the statement.
