Latest Study Finds No Negative Impact of Concussions on Children’s IQ: A Breakthrough Research by Sainte-Justine

According to a study in which Sainte-Justine participated, concussions have no consequences on the intelligence quotient of children.

Listen to Dr. Miriam Beauchamp, neuropsychologist and researcher in charge of a CHU Sainte-Justine study on concussions and children’s IQ, at the microphone of host Philippe Cantin.

The neuropsychologist states, among other things, that it is rather rare to report the absence of an effect in a study or in a research project, whereas here, that is what is announced.

“In this project, we studied 866 children who were then recruited from seven different hospitals, five in Canada, two in the United States, she says.

“So this is really the largest study to date that looks at this. And we used different ways to analyze the data, to analyze the results of the study. And that’s really the strength of the study. By combining the vast study with the methods of analysis, one comes to the conclusion that the IQ would not be diminished. Which is good news.”
