The UPEI men’s hockey Panthers used a pair of power play goals in the first period from Kaleb Pearson and Elias Cohen to start the offense in a 5-3 win at Dalhousie. Patrick Leblanc got the winner on a power play and game star Cade Kowalski scored shorthanded for the P’s.  The Panthers return home to host Moncton on Tuesday night at 7.00.

The women’s  Panthers lost 6-0 at Saint Mary’s. The Huskies second shutout win over UPEI this year. Miranda Hatt scored three times.

The Kensington Wild lost 4-2 to Halifax Steele Subaru in the Sunday morning playoff game in the Monctonian Major U18 division.

The Wild won two overtime games on Saturday, 5-4 over Saint John where Ethan Dixon had the winner and 5-4 facing the Halifax Macs. Eddy Doyle had the deciding goal.

The Charlottetown Knights lost 7-0 to the Moncton Flyers.

The Boston Bruins skated past the Montreal Canadiens, 5-2 led by Trent Frederic with two goals.  Brad Marchand got career assist #500.

Tampa Bay got by Edmonton, 6-4. Steven Stamkos and Luke Glending scored 39 seconds apart in the third.

Ottawa over Minnesota, 2-1 in a shootout. Josh Norris had the winner. Stratford’s Zack MacEwen fought the Wild’s Jake Middleton.

The NY Islanders ended a 7 game losing streak with a 5-4 shootout victory in Calgary. Noah Dobson had an assist.

Winnipeg stopped Arizona, 5-2.  Mark Scheifele had a goal and two assists.

Seattle got by Vancouver, 4-3 as Jordan Eberle scored twice.

Holland College downed winless Crandall U., 83-39 in women’s basketball. Alexa Rancourt led with 19 points.

Crandall won the men’s game, 84-65. Bryce Corless has 15 points for the Hurricanes.

A report in Los Angeles says the Dodgers want to sign free agent Shohei Ohtani and then trade for Mike Trout of the Angels for several prospects. The Angels also have interest in Toronto’s Bo Bichette.

Milan Lucic of the Boston Bruins is taking a leave of absence after being arrested in a domestic incident. Lucic has only played in four games for Boston this season.

Marc Campbell won the Paul MacDonald Memorial Driving Championship at Red Shore in Charlottetown with three winners and 67 points to finish ahead of Gilles Barrieau who had 58 points. Jason Hughes was third with 56. Corey MacPherson was fourth with 54.

D Gs Elsa won the featured 13th for driver Ken Murphy in 1.57 flat in a six horse race to the finish.

The championship games in the Early Bird Minor Hockey Tournament. Most games are at the Cody Banks Arena in Sherwood this afternoon.

UPEI women’s and men’s basketball at Dalhousie this afternoon.

Harness racing with post time at 12.30 at Red Shores in Charlottetown and a 15-dash card. Time To Dance with driver Marc Campbell is the 5-2 favourite in the 14th race feature.
