The SPÖ provincial governors met on the fringes of the provincial governors’ conference in Burgenland. Vienna’s Mayor Michael Ludwig said followingwards that he hoped for an active, substantive role for Hans Peter Doskozil under SPÖ leader Andreas Babler.
After the voting gap at the extraordinary SPÖ federal party conference, everything has now been clarified from Ludwig’s point of view, there is a clear result. Babeler must now make some decisions. The further procedure should be discussed in the federal party presidium on Wednesday. The fact that Babler had tried in vain to reach Doskozil might be due to the appointments of the Burgenland state party leader, said Ludwig. After all, he was also required as chairman of the LH conference.
He himself had already been in contact with Doskozil, although there were not many opportunities for one-on-one meetings and the topics of the LH conference had to be discussed, said Ludwig. He emphasized that he had always been in favor of Doskozil playing a role in the federal party committees. For this he had offered him his place on the presidency in the past. He now hopes that Doskozil will continue to take part in the substantive discussion in the future.
No statement from Doskozil yet
The Carinthian state party leader Peter Kaiser told the APA only briefly that the federal party would continue “hopefully well, positively and together”. There was no comment from Doskozil himself before the start of the LH conference. He referred to the upcoming press conference in the morning. At the LH conference, the focus is on financial equalization and the shift in the vertical distribution key in favor of the federal states, cities and municipalities.
Babeler: election result “unambiguous and clear”
After the third counting of the votes for the presidency election for the SPÖ, the new party leader Andreas Babler has “no longer any doubts whatsoever” regarding the result. This is “unambiguous and clear,” he said on Tuesday evening in ZIB2.
