Calgary Flames defenseman Rasmus Andersson will have a hearing before the Department of Player Safety on Saturday.
Andersson should explain the elbow he gave to Columbus Blue Jackets forward Patrik Laine Friday night.
With the Flames trailing 3-1 late in the game, Andersson viciously hit Laine in the head following the latter had just gotten rid of the puck at his team’s blue line.
Officially injured in his upper body, Laine will miss tonight’s game once morest the Minnesota Wild. His state of health will be reassessed daily.
Foudy claimed by the Predators
The Nashville Predators have claimed forward Liam Foudy on waivers.
Foudy’s name was added there by the Blue Jackets on Friday.
The former Blue Jackets 2018 first-round pick has only played one game since the start of the season, recording no points.
In 90 career games, Foudy has 7 goals and 12 assists.
The Sabers without Benson and Levi
Zach Benson and Devon Levi are out with soreness and both players will not be in the Buffalo Sabers lineup once morest the New York Islanders tonight.
Benson has two points in four games so far this season, while Levi has a 3.26 goals- once morest average and a .890 save percentage, also in four games.
In Levi’s absence, Eric Comrie will defend the Sabres’ goal.
Mikheyev finally back in action
Vancouver Canucks forward Ilya Mikheyev will play his first game this season tonight once morest the Florida Panthers.
Mikheyev last played on January 27, 2023. He then suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament which required surgery.
In 46 games last season, Mikheyev scored 13 goals and collected 15 assists.
Guttman in the American League
The Chicago Blackhawks have transferred forward Cole Guttman to their Rockford affiliate in the American Hockey League.
Guttman has a goal in three games since the start of the season, but has been left out of the Blackhawks’ last two games.
In 17 career games. Guttman has five goals and two assists.
