As Ukrainian forces continue their counter-offensive launched last week once morest Russian forces in southern Ukraine, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg considered it too early to assess this attack.

He said in a press conference today, Wednesday, that the counter-attack is still in its initial stages, and therefore it is too early to say for certain or say that the war has entered a decisive turning point.

“We don’t know if it will be a turning point in the war,” he added.

However, he added that the alliance had noticed Kiev achieving several gains, considering that the more it accumulated “profits, the greater its power at the negotiating table later.”

In addition, he considered that the upcoming NATO summit in Lithuania will clarify the fate of Ukraine within the defense alliance.

He pointed out that he sees Kiev as a future within NATO.

Also, Stoltenberg indicated that NATO defense ministers will agree, during the next summit in July, to establish a naval center to protect the infrastructure under the seas.

Last week, Kiev announced the launch of its counterattack, which was expected last spring, but it was postponed for fear of mounting human losses. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that the attack was continuing despite the odds.

While Moscow confirmed the failure of this attack, pointing out that it had inflicted heavy losses on the Ukrainian forces, especially in the south and east.
