Paris – Argentina football legend Lionel Messi was awarded the famous Ballon d’Or by France Football magazine for the best male footballer of the last season. Messi has won the Ballon d’Or for the eighth time. Portuguese player Cristiano Ronaldo, who has won five times, is behind Messi in this regard. Messi won the 67th Ballon d’Or award by beating Manchester City’s Norwegian player Erling Holland and French player Kylian Mbappe.

The performance of Messi, who played an important role in winning the FIFA World Cup title for Argentina, was crucial in the achievement of the award. Messi scored 41 goals and 26 assists last season. Messi, who left the French club PSG following winning the World Cup, is currently playing for the US club Inter Miami.
