Tanzania: DP World signs the final contract for the concession of the multipurpose terminal at the port of Dar es Salaam
DP World and the Tanzanian government yesterday, October 22, 2023, signed the final concession agreement for 4 of the 7 berths of the multipurpose terminal at the port of Dar es Salaam. The group will operate the facilities for 30 years and will notably handle ro-ro freight, bulk, general cargo and containers. According to the investment plan revealed, DP World will inject 250 million USD into the development of the facilities and might increase this envelope to 1 billion USD for infrastructure associated with the operation of the terminal.
Cameroon: the Dutch Damen wins a contract to supply 2 tugboats to the port of Douala
The Régie delegatee du remorquage, branch of the Autonomous Port of Douala, and the Dutch shipbuilder Damen Shipyards have signed a contract worth 11 billion FCFA for the construction of 2 new ASD 2811 tugboats, each with a capacity of 60 tonnes. The contract also includes the supply of spare parts as well as a training and technical assistance component for staff for one year.
Nigeria: Services resume at Kaduna airport following more than 18 months of interruption due to terrorist threat
Kaduna airport in northern Nigeria was reopened to flights at the start of the week, following more than a year and a half of closure due to a terrorist attack in March 2022. The raid which caused several staff casualties of the airport put off several airlines which announced the interruption of their flights to or from this state.
Senegal signs agreement with China to develop intelligent transport systems in the Dakar region
The Senegalese State, through the CETUD (Executive Council for Sustainable Transport) signed an agreement during the 3rd “Belt and Road” forum to develop intelligent transport systems in the Dakar region, reports We Are Techciting the Senegalese Press Agency (APS).
The agreement signed with China National Technical Import and Export Corporation (CNTIC), a public engineering and technology company, aims to implement intelligent technologies for the optimal management of the road network, in particular solutions to improve the fluidity of the traffic, and help facilitate automatic control, enforcement of penalties for infractions, and reduction of accidents.
Egypt and China sign agreements to develop Cairo and Hurghada airports
Egypt recently signed several agreements with the public construction company China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC), to develop the international airports of Cairo and Hurghada (city south of the Suez Canal, 500 km from the capital) .
