The President’s Office reserved its position on the proposal of Lee Jae-myeong, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, for a ‘people’s livelihood summit’.
An official from the President’s Office met with reporters on the 3rd and asked regarding Representative Lee’s position on the ‘leadership meeting’ proposal, only replying, “I have nothing special to say.”
Next, it was stated that public concerns regarding the suspicion of public opinion manipulation on the portal ‘Daum’ Hangzhou Asian Games cheering page were justified.
During the quarterfinals of the Hangzhou Asian Games soccer match between Korea and China held on the 1st, controversy arose because the percentage of clicks cheering for the Chinese team on the Daum cheering page reached 91%.
This official said, “I understand that the public is concerned that public opinion may be distorted. Such concerns are valid.”
In addition, President Yoon Seok-yeol plans to maintain the livelihood of the people following his visits to airport cargo terminals, rescue teams, fire stations, and frontline units during the Chuseok holiday.
Presidential Office Spokesperson Lee Do-woon said in a briefing that day, “We plan to continue to run the government with a focus on revitalizing the economy, including exports and investment, stabilizing people’s livelihoods, and strengthening diplomatic security.” He added, “The support the government can provide to revive exports by the end of the year is “I will do everything,” he said.
In particular, regarding investment, he said, “We are focusing more on investment in Korea by foreign governments and companies rather than on external investment by companies.”
Regarding Saudi Arabia’s promise to invest 40 trillion won and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to invest $30 billion this year, he explained, “The investment scale has been decided, but there is a problem with the delay in confirming specific investment projects.”
He continued, “There are follow-up schedules to confirm large-scale investment projects in the two countries within this month, so as investments are made, quality jobs will be created.”
Meanwhile, an official from the President’s Office responded to North Korea’s reference to South Korea as a ‘puppet’ while reporting the results of the North-South women’s soccer quarterfinals of the Hangzhou Asian Games held on the 30th of last month, saying, “Since North Korea has continued to change (the title), there is no question regarding that.” However, it does not give any special meaning,” he said.
