TAll of Niger’s land and air borders were closed on Wednesday, the evening of the coup once morest President Mohamed Bazoum.

This announcement of the opening of the borders came a few hours following a first evacuation operation carried out by France of its nationals from Niger.

The reopening of borders with five neighboring countries also comes a few days before the end of the ultimatum to restore constitutional order, demanded on Sunday by the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), which does not exclude the use of “force” if it is not respected.

The chiefs of staff of the ECOWAS countries are meeting from Wednesday to Friday in Abuja on the situation in Niger, the regional organization announced in a press release on Tuesday evening.
