Starting this Wednesday, service stations throughout the country applied a new fuel increase that averages 27%.
This was indicated to Cadena 3 by the president of the Chamber of Fuel Entrepreneurs, Raúl Castellanos. This is the first increase of 2024, after what was the strong jump in value in December 2023.
With this increase, the liter of gasoline is quickly approaching the historical value of one dollar. With a 25% increase in super gasoline it averages $720 and premium gasoline sells for approximately $900.

“The lag in prices with respect to inflation has already been overcome. This is due to another type of reason, as prices are completely released, they will be the prices that the oil companies have decided and they will have had some conversation with the government,” Castellanos explained.
The first increases were seen at the PUMA service stations in Córdoba. The company’s new values will be Super E12(12093) 829 pesos; Puma D-500 (AD) B1(32015) 900 pesos; Puma Max Premium E12 (12095) 1017 pesos; ION Puma Diesel B1 (30011) 1004 pesos.
In that sense, Castellanos indicated that without counting tonight’s increase “we already have an increase of 260% last year, against 200% inflation. That is to say, there have been 60 percentage points in favor of fuel.”

This is the first increase of the year after two strong increases in December. The decision would be a direct consequence of the decision of the Ministry of Energy that on December 28 ordered increases for biodiesel and bioethanol ranging from 28.45% to 34.44%. It was expected that the oil companies would transfer, at least in part, the higher cost to the final price of fuel, but in view of the percentages, they would be transferring almost all of it.
The previous increase had been on December 8. The private oil companies had taken the lead with an average of 30% and a week later YPF adjusted. A week before, oil companies had increased by 7% in agreement with the Government within the framework of fuel agreements. In November, the adjustment had been 12%.
In 2023, gasoline and diesel prices had remarks every month, except in September. In numbers, the liter of super started the year at $150.90 and ended at $553, which represents an increase of 266.22%. Meanwhile, the liter of premium went from $185.90 to $684, which shows an evolution of 267.74%.
