Like the aquatic center of Aulnay-sous-Bois, the new swimming pool under construction in the heart of the Departmental Sports Park of Marville – a 33-hectare green setting straddling the towns of La Courneuve and Saint- Denis (Seine-Saint-Denis) – is regarding to become one of the concrete examples of the material heritage of the Paris 2024 Summer Games and even more, an illustration of the aquatic heritage of the event.
First intended for water polo training during the Games, the aquatic center will then be accessible to the general public who will then be able to discover no less than 6 pools with varied services, the entire site in front of in fine helping to meet growing demand in a department that is still under-equipped with facilities of this type.
Also, the Olympic Works Delivery Company (SOLIDEO) has been supervising since January 2022 the construction site for this new sports and recreational setting which will replace the aging structure which opened its doors in the mid-1970s.

Since the beginning of the summer, the site has taken a new turn, with the completion of the structural work and now the layout of the various poles that will make up the interior and exterior spaces, starting with the pool hall.
A key element of the Marville aquatic center, this 250-seat hall consists of a main sports pool 33 meters long and 21 meters wide, with 8 lanes and a retractable bottom.
Another pool has also been installed, with a surface area of 156 m² and a depth modulation of 90 centimeters on the first part, up to 1.30 meters on the second. For the youngest, a 70 m² learning pool has also been designed, here with a pool depth of 40 to 90 centimeters, while a 60 m² play lagoon with fountains and geysers will also be filled with water.
Beyond the pool hall, the aquatic center – which will be able to accommodate up to 1,900 people at the same time – will also offer a wellness and balneotherapy area where users can enjoy a hammam, a sauna, massage showers, but also a relaxation area and a weights room, not to mention a terrace fitness.
Outside the walls, a Nordic pool of 25 meters by 15, with 6 lanes, has been fitted out, as has a summer pool of 300 m² equipped with water cannons and a jacuzzi area. The exterior of the site will finally be completed by a 120 m² water fun beach bordered by two areas solarium.

While the structures are taking shape as a whole, work will continue until the fall of 2023.
At this deadline, the impoundment of the basins will be carried out, which will prefigure the general atmosphere of the site. During the same period, the Departmental Council of Seine-Saint-Denis – project manager – will formalize the choice of the delegate who will be in charge of the management of the vast equipment.
To orchestrate the site, SOLIDEO was in any case able to count on an overall budget of 40.15 million euros, with in particular 30 million euros provided by the Departmental Council (15 million) and the City of Paris (15 million ), and additional financial contributions from the Île-de-France Region, the Greater Paris Metropolis, the Plaine Commune Public Territorial Establishment, and the State.
In April 2022, the President of the departmental entity did not fail to underline the importance of such an investment and the arrival of new equipment for Seine-Saint-Denis.
As Stéphane Troussel had said:
The future Marville aquatic center is one of the main sporting legacies of the 2024 Games for Seine-Saint-Denis.
In a territory where we greatly lack swimming infrastructure, this future aquatic center demonstrates to what extent the Games can be an accelerator for public policies and sports practice for all, whether leisure or touring. competition.
While the aquatic center will be the figurehead of the Marville Departmental Sports Park, other structures will also emerge by the end of 2023.
In fact, with the idea of completing the current development, the departmental authorities wanted to invest in the creation of four new pitches intended for the practice of football and rugby.
Additional proof of the announced strengthening of the sporting and recreational dimension of the Park, this investment comes just over two years following the establishment on site of the training center of Red Starthe football club of Saint-Ouen.
