Last chance to vacation without losing money – only two options left | Business

You will lose money while on vacation

August is not the best time to go on vacation.

According to the LBAA’s calculations, a person on a pre-tax salary of €1,800 loses €13.39 after taking a 10-day holiday in August. So he will receive €1,786.61 “on paper” for that month.

The last two months of the year are also a bad time for a vacation.

Those taking a 10-day vacation in November will lose 69.23 euros, and in December – as much as 103.62 euros.

Despite all the calculations and the fact that December is usually the most financially painful time to take a vacation, according to LBAA head Daiva Čibirienė, Lithuanians still usually choose to rest at the end of the year.

“December might even take the lead over the summer months,” previously 15min she said.

However, there are still opportunities to go on vacation without losing money.

One possibility is in September. Those who decided to rest that month would not feel any changes – they would receive the same salary as always.

Well, if you decide to take vacation in October, you can be happy to add 48.16 euros to your gross salary. So, in total, the person will receive 1848.16 euros “on paper” that month.

The worst months can turn into the best

Such changes are determined by the ratio of the last three months’ wages before the vacation and the number of working days in these three months. Since the number of working days can vary from month to month, the calculation of vacation time also varies.

This year, June, November and December have the fewest working days: June and December – 19 each, and November – 20 working days. Therefore, vacations are the least in these months.

However, even the worst months can turn into one of the best if a particular employee’s salary has risen.

“These calculations work if the salary was constant, there were no bonuses. If there were, it changes everything.

Another tip – if the salary has a tendency to increase and you see that it will increase, then when calculating the money, it is worth not to take vacation and go on vacation when the vacation will be paid after the salary increase. But you don’t need to convert everything into money, because vacation is first of all an emotion”, said D. Čibirienė.

She also emphasized that the salary in hand can differ for everyone due to individual calculation – for example, the application or non-application of pension accumulation or non-taxable amount of income (NPD), among other criteria.
