“Last announcement”.. Kim Jong Un sends a warning to South Korea

Kim’s statements came during his inspection of the headquarters of the Second Corps of the Korean People’s Army, two days after Pyongyang blew up roads and railways linking the two Koreas, which were once considered a major symbol of reconciliation.

“The leader stressed that our military must once again bear in mind the stark reality that South Korea is a hostile foreign country,” KCNA said in an English-language statement.

It was reported that Kim added, “This means the recent announcement that if the South Korean state hostile to us violates our sovereignty, it will use actual force without hesitation and without considering any other conditions.”

He pointed out that closing roads and railways “does not only mean a physical closure, but it also means the end of the toxic relationship with Seoul and the complete removal of the irrational idea of reunification.”

During the field inspection, Kim once again stressed “the importance of enhancing combat capability and defending the country’s security through permanent combat readiness, including nuclear deterrence.”

He said, “The impact of the changing nature of the alliance between South Korea and the United States and the various advanced military maneuvers of the enemy’s aggressive nature on North Korea’s security highlight more clearly the importance of strengthening the nuclear deterrent and demonstrate its legitimacy.”

Yesterday, Thursday, North Korea confirmed that its constitution clearly states that South Korea is an “enemy state.” This is the first time that Pyongyang has confirmed that its constitution has been amended in line with the orders of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un to designate South Korea “as an enemy and not a partner in… Reconciliation and unity,” according to Yonhap.

On October 15, South Korea said that its northern neighbor had blown up parts of its roads leading to South Korea, “after it pledged to cut off roads and railways, which were once considered a symbol of cooperation between the two Koreas.”

The South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff added: “North Korea blew up parts of the Gyeonggi and Donghae roads north of the military demarcation line near noon.”
