Lasso signs decree to give bonds to those affected by disasters in Zaruma

The President of the Republic, Guillermo Lasso, signed Executive Decree 316 so that through the Ministry of Economic and Social Inclusion (MIES), bonds are delivered to those affected by the disasters registered in Zaruma.

The MIES must identify the affected families and citizens affected by the emergency, deliver the contingency voucher and provide psychological care, delivery of food kits and humanitarian aid.

“The Government is here, it is going to put the necessary resources, we are going to do it, because we are not going to abandon the Zarumeños,” Lasso said in a video indicating the moment in which he signed the decree.

The payment will be made through the window, it will be a transfer equivalent to 50% of the Vital Family Basket in force on the date of eventuality. At the moment, 93 affected family nuclei have been identified.

Among other actions, the National Service for Risk and Emergency Management of Ecuador (SNGRE), will work for the:

• Expansion of the inspection area for better control and monitoring of homes.

• Meeting points through awareness days to work with the population.

• Activation of temporary shelters and early warning protocols.

The Government will also support the design of stabilization of the sinkhole, construction of support, design of solution in the subsoil and future filling of galleries and caves.

A Containment Plan will also be carried out: control of the territory, support to entities to carry out technical studies, investigation of illegal activities and combat illegal mining to reduce risks; inter-institutional coordination.

Survey of the delimitation map of risk areas, zoning of homes and lots by risk level, Project for the relocation of affected families (in the preliminary project the construction of 20 homes is proposed).
