“LASK doesn’t belong where it is”

After the catastrophic start to the season, LASK said goodbye to the international break with steadily improving performances. Today the athletes want to continue the upward trend in Innsbruck against Tyrol (2.30 p.m.) – it is the start of an intensive block with seven games within 22 days.

The athletes are favorites and have remained undefeated in the last five competitive games. Two weeks ago, Linz impressed with a 4-0 win against Klagenfurt, their first clean sheet win of this Bundesliga season. “There was definitely an improvement. The results were definitely better than before, we now want to continue this positive trend in the coming weeks,” said goalkeeper Jörg Siebenhandl, who continues to replace the injured Tobias Lawal.

The coaches praise each other

The upswing began with the engagement of coach Markus Schopp at the beginning of September. After a botched start with the derby against Blau-Weiß Linz, three wins and two draws followed across all competitions. They want to continue this series, even if Schopp warns. “We are facing an opponent who has gained self-confidence with the results before the international break,” he said before the away game against the Watten team. “Nevertheless, we are going there with the clear intention of playing a good game and getting the most points possible. Tirol acts very flexibly and courageously in possession of the ball as well as against the ball and shows the coach’s clear style in many phases.”

Despite being close in the table, his counterpart clearly sees Linz as the favorites. “LASK started with different expectations, he doesn’t belong where he is. Anyone who knows Markus knows how he wants to play football. Paired with a clear idea, LASK has really good individual players in this system,” said WSG coach Philipp Semlic also said: “The beauty of football is that conditions alone do not guarantee success.”
