Laser Optek wins insurance for toenail fungus treatment using laser

[팜뉴스=이권구 기자] Laser Optek Co., Ltd. (CEO Hong Joo, Chang-Jin Lee), a medical laser company, announced on the 7th that it had obtained an insurance fee (not covered) for ‘laser-assisted onychomycosis treatment’ from the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service (hereinafter referred to as the HIRA).

There are three types of equipment that received insurance fees this time: Helios 785 (HELIOS IV 785), Helios III (HELIOS III), and HYPERION.

Onychomycosis occurs when the fungus that causes athlete’s foot invades the nails or toenails, and the toenails become thick and white, and in severe cases, the toenails become brittle. In general, it occurs most often in summer, but it can also occur in winter by wearing boots with poor ventilation.

Toenail athlete’s foot is a common disease, accounting for nearly 50% of the incidence of athlete’s foot in Korea.

“Laser treatment using 1064nm wavelengths such as Helios 785 has the advantage of being able to effectively treat lesions intensively, so safe and effective treatment can be expected,” said Changjin Lee, CEO of Laser Optech. I look forward to it,” he said.
