Las Vegas Summer League drew crowds

The Summer League in Las Vegas has just closed its doors and it obviously pleased a lot of people. The NBA has communicated the figures (audiences, sales) of the event and Adam Silver has something to smile regarding.

No NBA, no World Cup or EuroBasket to entertain us, the month of July is definitely very poor in orange ball and the calm of the Free Agency does not help either. Fortunately, the Summer League is an escape to give us a little show. The first steps of star rookies, international prospects (particularly French) who are trying to find a place in the rosters or even the highlights of a few no-names, the Summer League is certainly not worth the NBA but there are still some stuff to watch for basketball-hungry people like us. Obviously, we were not alone in front of the screens since the NBA has just communicated its figures for the 2022 edition of the Summer League and there is reason to rejoice in the management offices.

We therefore have a first record on NBA social networks with nearly 633 million views on videos, which represents an increase of 58% compared to last year. If people looked a lot on their screen, they also made the trip with 11,697 people on average in the stands, which is the second highest attendance in the history of the Summer League. Seeing the nuggets release the first masterclasses obviously made fans want to take out the wallet since the NBA is also recording a new merchandising record, with 10% additional sales compared to the previous record which dated from 2019. Suffice to say that many fans have undoubtedly bought the jerseys of Paolo Banchero, Chet Holmgren or Keegan Murray, the MVP of this Summer League 2022. Finally, the summer league has always attracted more sponsors and no less than 24 of them have made a deal with the NBA to be able to place the logo from right to left. Again, this is a new record…

The Summer League has drawn crowds and sponsors this year and the League is rubbing its hands at such success. Adam Silver can rest easy, basketball across the Atlantic is still doing just as well, even during off-peak times.
