Las Vegas Grand Prix: Emotions Proven Right, Exciting Sporting Event

British driver Lewis Hamilton, seven-time Formula 1 champion, assured that the emotions experienced during Saturday’s Las Vegas Grand Prix were the perfect response to critics of the new race.

The winner of the test, the Dutchman Max Verstappen, was one of the figures who questioned the atmosphere around the Grand Prix of the gaming capital, regretting that it was “99% spectacle, 1% sporting event.”

But the night race, with multiple overtakes, incidents and lead changes under the neon lights of the casinos, showed that this event can also offer sporting emotions.

“For all those people who were so negative regarding this weekend, saying it was all show and ‘blah blah blah’, I think Las Vegas has proven them wrong,” said Hamilton, who finished in seventh place.

Christian Horner, Verstappen’s manager at the Red Bull team, agreed with this position.

“I think it was a great race. Exciting. You have long straights, big braking areas and no grip, so it’s difficult for the drivers,” reasoned Horner, who believes his pupil enjoyed the challenge.

Verstappen “loves a race like that, I think he changed his mind regarding Las Vegas,” he said.

In his turn, the Dutchman, who had already secured his third World Cup title, measured his words regarding the return of Formula 1 to Las Vegas following 41 years of absence.

“I expected it to be a good race today. I had already talked regarding the straights, the low speed corners… so that has never been my problem,” he said. “But yeah, today was fun. That’s all I want to say regarding it. I hope everyone enjoyed it.”

It should be remembered that the only thing left to compete is the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, which will take place on November 26.
