Just on lap 3, the Briton left the track at turn 11 and forced the Safety Car to exit. Through the radio, Norris reported that he was fine and was even able to get out under his own power, although the impact was such that the his McLaren lost a rear tire.
For this reason, the British pilot had to be transferred to University Medical Centerfollowing being treated at the Medical Center of Las Vegas Street Circuit. This is to carry out precautionary investigations and rule out any further damage.
Fortunately, a couple of hours later, the Woking team reported that Norris was discharged and was able to return to the paddock to join his team following the scare.
