At about 5pm on Wednesday, a raging fire completely destroyed the business premises of the “Mis Amigos” bar.

This morning, five teams of volunteer firefighters from San Francisco, totaling 25 personnel, arrived at the border between Paraguay and Isla Libertador do Sul. The incident was so large that the flames threatened to spread to surrounding homes. In addition to firefighters, the cooperation involved Cordoba police, the city’s prevention team and an irrigation truck from the municipality.

Volunteer firefighter commissioner Ariel Ronconi confirmed the damage was “comprehensive” and residents of the boarding house next to the Paraguay Street bar had to be evacuated. Ventilation tasks were also carried out.

The family that owns the business explained they have no idea what caused the fire. The case is being investigated by local judicial authorities.

The Gamo family posted on their Facebook account: “As we all know, our home suffered significant damage after the fire this morning. Now we must move through this process with confidence and resilience.

They explained that they decided to use social networks to “express their eternal gratitude to all police officers, volunteer firefighters and city prevention officers who work with all their heart and soul.”

They also expressed their gratitude to “everyone who stepped up to offer support, a listening ear, and a hug.”
