For two years the residents of Las Delicias warned regarding the undermined ground.
Almost a week following the ground was undermined on Lisandro Alvarado street in San Félix, the community of Las Delicias remains up to the expectations of the promises of the municipality.
The mayor of Caroní, Tito Oviedo, in charge of the Risk Committee, went to different sectors affected by the rains on Monday, including Las Delicias, there he estimated recovery work, but until now the work had not started.
The residents of Las Delicias had already alerted the undermining of the land with the unsupported sidewalk, a risk that generated not only pedestrians, but also vehicular traffic and even a private clinical center located on the other side of the street.
Félix Yépez, head of Ubch José Ángel Ruiz, commented that they have been following up for two years and regretted that it was not attended to at the time despite requests to the corresponding authorities.
The pass remains closed, but Yépez points out that if vehicles pass through this road, it is likely that the land will continue to slide.
He mentions that the first job is to move the debris and build retaining walls to prevent damage.
Remember that this work began more than five years ago, but remained incomplete until the June 11 incident.
The rains will continue in Bolívar state according to the forecasts of the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (Inameh), with a very active tropical convergence zone.
