The case
A total of 32 civilians and 12 police officers were injured last Thursday in the clashes reported at the facilities of the copper mining company MMG Las Bambas, in Apurimac, between the National Police, security personnel hired by the company and community members from Fuerabamba who were trying to take the territory they claim as their own.
One of the arguments of the Las Bambas mining company regarding the irregularity of the Fuerabamba community’s claim is that they complied with the economic compensation for the resettlement of some 500 families.
