Larreta and Bullrich, crossover with the campaign “spots”

In what is the fight at the polls that will concentrate the most expectations for the presidential elections on August 13, the two candidates for Together for Change, Horacio Rodríguez Larreta and Patricia Bullrich, showed their differences in the first campaign spots.

Last Friday, Bullrich went ahead and posted the first ad, with a harsh message that seemed intended for his internal rival. “With consensus and dialogue, the serious problems of the country are not resolved,” said the pre-candidate, in a section of her long message of almost a minute and a half.

For his part, Rodríguez Larreta launched his first official campaign spot this Saturday, with an optimistic message: “This country can be fixed,” says the strongest definition, of a one-minute message.

The first messages are in line with what both PRO candidates have shown: Larreta, measured, betting on dialogue, and Bullrich, with a tough message, focused on all Kirchnerism.

Hence, in the official campaign, Larreta and Bullrich claim the nickname with which the media identify them: “dove” to the Buenos Aires head of government, and “hawk” to the former Minister of Security.

In Larreta’s video, different people appear who have small handwritten papers in their hands in which recurring phrases of the crisis that the country is experiencing today can be read:

After reading each of the messages, the six people who appear in the spot burn the paper where those sentences are written.

At the end, the hands of Rodríguez Larreta are first seen holding a handwritten piece of paper that says: “This country cannot be fixed.”

Then the candidate makes a ball of that paper and, in front of the camera, says: “This country can be fixed.” The video closes with Rodríguez Larreta walking and throwing the paper with that phrase into the fire and says: “Let’s make the change in our lives.”

For his part, Bullrich debuted with a campaign ad that points to the reality of the country, and also to mark differences with Larreta.

“If we were in a normal country, maybe a good administrator or an economic theorist would be enough. But we are not living in a normal country. We are living in this Argentina”.

“Here nothing is as it should be and it will take a lot of strength to recover the order we lost,” adds the PRO leader while, in the background, a video of Máximo Kirchner and Juan Grabois is seen.

Then he questions the candidates who propose a more dialogic strategy and shows images of Sergio Massa and references to Kirchnerism. “Strength, because dialogue does not get the drug traffickers out of Rosario,” says Bullrich and continues listing: “Because corruption does not end by consensus. Because he doesn’t agree with the mafias. Strength because the boxes and privileges are never released by negotiating. Strength because the best plan in the world is going to have to defend itself, more than in economic theory, in the street”, concluded Bullrich.
