A fire broke out this Sunday followingnoon at the Saint-Hubert prison. Several witnesses notified us via the orange Alert us button. “This is a large building fire. It’s the carpentry of the prison that’s on fire. There are no injuries and the prisoners are not concerned. We are in full intervention to prevent the fire from spreading.“, told us Stéphane Thiery, commander of the Luxembourg rescue zone, at the start of the firefighters’ intervention.
The mayor of Saint-Hubert then told us that the 200 detainees were taken out of their cells so that they were not exposed to smoke. They were assembled in the refectory. If there are no injuries, the damage is significant: the building housing the carpentry is destroyed.
The causes of the fire are currently unknown.
