Numerous users reported large-scale problems at Swisscom on Tuesday evening. The mobile network is just as affected as the normal home Internet. In addition, the TV screen on Swisscom stations remains black – in the middle of the final phase of the Champions League semi-final hit between Villarreal and Liverpool.
Users are also venting their displeasure on the allestoerungen.ch website and on social media. Apparently, users throughout Switzerland were affected. The Blick editorial team was also affected by the disruption.
situation “calms down”
At Blick’s request, Swisscom reported that between 10:30 p.m. and 10:53 p.m. there was a problem with the Internet, both in the fixed network and in mobile communications. “The situation has now calmed down once more,” said a spokeswoman for Swisscom. It is currently not possible to say how many customers were affected by this service interruption.
Maintenance work is to blame for the mega-disruption. “We are analyzing the situation in detail, the systems are under close observation,” said the spokeswoman. The emergency numbers were not affected by the failure.
The TV offer was less affected. It says: “Blue TV was mostly available to customers, only a few TV customers had a service interruption.” This situation has since calmed down.
On the social platforms, individual users also complain regarding disruptions from other providers. However, there does not seem to have been a large-scale failure here.
Again and once more Swisscom glitches
There are always breakdowns at Swisscom. In the summer of last year, for example, the emergency numbers in large parts of Switzerland fell out for hours – on a night of storms, of all things, when streams burst their banks and cellars filled up.
Swisscom networks have repeatedly failed in previous years. This happened twice in 2020 alone. (zis/gust)
