Police and rescue teams were on a large-scale operation in St. Pantaleon (Braunau district) on Saturday evening. In the area of the train station, a 40-year-old called the emergency number at around 5:30 p.m. because of a knife injury. An intensive search for the suspected perpetrator began with helicopters, drones and dogs, a police spokesman for the Upper Austria State Police Directorate confirmed to the APA in a report in the “Kronen Zeitung” (online and Sunday edition).
The emergency doctor attended to the seriously injured victim and the man was then taken to a hospital. The interview is scheduled to take place on Sunday. The police hope that this will provide more clarity about the process. According to the police, so far they have only received confusing information from the injured person. Therefore, we are still investigating in all directions. Officials from the neighboring state of Salzburg also took part in the alarm search. So far it has been unsuccessful.
