Great performance from Lara Gut-Behrami at the super-G in Zauchensee. The Ticino woman ranked 3rd, 0.21″ behind the winner, the Austrian Cornelia Hütter. This is the 80th podium for the Swiss woman!
Gut-Behrami didn’t miss much to score his 20th success in his favorite discipline: 21 hundredths to be precise. Very comfortable in the technical part with high speed turns, the skier from Comano let the victory slip away in the last sector. A final part where the Ticino woman lost 34 hundredths of a second compared to Hütter. This 3rd place represents the 80th World Cup podium for the Olympic champion!
It was of course at the end that the Austrian made the difference once morest the queens of the discipline like Gut-Behrami and Federica Brignone (4th). Hütter wins for the 5th time in his career, the 4th in Super-G. The podium is completed by the Norwegian Kajsa Vickhoff Lie, 2nd at 0”09.
Six Swiss in the top-15
The overall result of the Swiss team is rather encouraging, even if Swiss-Ski might expect better on a track that is popular and which has already been successful for the Swiss in the past. Joana Hählen is 9th, Jasmine Flury 10th, Stephanie Jenal 12th, Corinne Suter 13th, Michelle Gisin 15th and Priska Nufer 17th.
The Austrian weekend continues on Saturday with a downhill and another super-G on Sunday. On this occasion, Cornelia Hütter will wear the red bib as leader of the discipline in front of Federica Brignone.
